What is Self Assessment?

The pedagogical tool Self Assessment enables instructors to create self-assessment activities for students to review their own work/skills or those of their own group effectively with the criteria & rubrics set by the instructor.

Why is Self Assessment useful for learning?

Self-assessment is a form of feedback given to oneself. It helps students think of possible adjustments they can make for their processes and deliverables (e.g. essays, presentations, etc.) and also helps them enhance learning outcomes and performance.

How does the Self Assessment tool work?

With Self Assessment, instructors can organize a solid self-assessment process from beginning to reflect on deliverables (with a submission step) or skills (without a submission step). The instructor can add specific instructions, deadlines, as well as review criteria (rubrics or scales) which will guide students throughout the assessment process.

This tool was designed with ease of use in mind. Therefore, depending on the teacher’s didactic method, it allows them to create various learning activities such as:

• Students reflecting on their performance of in-class preparation
